Sailor Standard Profit is a classic cigar shaped pen. To fit the hand and high quality thick resin body prevents it from slipping. It features rounded ends that taper in the middle, slightly swelling out the mid section of the pen. Speaking of the middle of the pen, theres an excellently crafted cap band thats topped with a slimmer accent band just above where the cap ends. The engraving is top-notch and the finish is pristine. The 21K gold plating compliments the color of the pen quite well. I also like the shape and appearance of the clip. Its simple, yet has just enough detail to remain interesting. The caps gold band extends around the pen, and is mirrored on the tail end by another accent band. The classic looks, attention to detail, and unique color result in a great looking pen that oozes class. My experience with Sailor nibs has been pretty staggering, and the Sailor nib on this example is no exception and one of the best nibs in the world. The 21K MF gold nib is also as nice to look at as it is to write with. Sailors nib design has to be my favorite out there. I love the scroll work around the nib, the 1911 logo, and the anchor firmly planted in the center of the nib. The Standard model features a standard size pen and it is much appreciated. The nib has some presence to it, but its not over the top similar to how almost all the features on this pen are. Writing with the sailor nib is a pleasant experience. It's a hard type nib but writing feels very smooth. It could be one of the smoothest nibs that I could ever come across. Its almost like writing with the perfect pencil on good paper just enough tactile feedback to let you know youre physically writing with something. WHY SO EXPENSIVE & HARD TO FIND. This model is already in the catalog but due to excessive demand of this model it became a limited edition not available most of the time, Sailor does not produce in mass production, only available in special orders. These pens are not only have huge demands in domestic market but also west too which explains why they are so highly valued in the west. Even in Japan they are difficult to find since Sailor no longer makes them. But they are such tough pens, the ones that do turn up are usually still in great condition. I really like how the Sailor feels in hand. The standard offers a standard size diameter, added weight, and a slight increase in length. It makes the pen feel more luxury. Its comfortably sized for my large hands. Its comfortable to hold, even for longer writing sessions. The balance of the pen is towards the middle.

The step from the threads to the grip is extremely minimal. No matter what your grip is, this pen should be comfortable for everyone.
