The condition overall is good, with some surface wear as shown in the photos. No cracks, gouges, engraved initials, removed engravings or teeth marks. There is some brassing to the "Waterman's" medallion on the bottom of the pen. The standout on these pens are the custom, jeweler made 14K white gold clips. Many Waterman collectors are familiar with the special Patricians that came with 14K cap band, clip and lever.
These are rarer still, with custom-made 14K white gold clips on the pen and pencil. The 14K mark is on the left side of the clip, compared to the factory marks, which were on the right side of the clips. They look like factory clips until you examine them with a loupe, and you can see the hand-worked step at the edge of the clips. Of course, as the clips are solid 14K, they are not vulnerable to brassing, and they hold much better than the standard stamped metal clips. The clips are nice and tight.
The chrome plating on the lever box is quite good and the imprint is strong and fully legible. The nib is a fine with good flexibility that writes a wet, expressive line. A very good writing Patrician. All in all, this is a one-of-a-kind pen set that will be a high point in any advanced Waterman's collector's display.
